Our Program How Can You Participate

Pheasants Forever is a nonprofit conservation organization founded in 1982 in response to the decline of the ringneck pheasant population.

Pheasants Forever is dedicated to the protection and enhancement of pheasant and other wildlife populations in North America through habitat improvement, land management, public awareness, and education. Such efforts benefit landowners and wildlife alike. Pheasants Forever's unique system of county chapters allows 100% of net funds raised by chapters to remain at the chapter level for local habitat projects.

Our Program
Pheasants Forever, LaGrange Chapter #592 has received a 319 Non-point Source Pollution Grant from the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The name of the chapter's project is "Prairie Grass/Tree Planting & Wetland Restoration Water Quality Project".

This funding will make it possible to plant 150 acres of warm season grasses and 25 acres of trees in critical areas of stream bank protection. Money was also appropriated for restoration of five wetland sites.

The positive effects of this program will have a huge ecosystem-impact on the water, soil, plants, animals and air within Northeast Indiana and the Saint Joseph River/Lake Michigan watershed.

How Can You Participate

If you have land that you would like to see restored for habitat protection, soil that is eroding along a stream bank or a deteriorating wetlands, this Pheasants Forever program is for you. Cost share is a major component of the program so projects can be completed at a minimal fee to the land user.

This program will only be available for a two year period and limited to acreage in critical areas. If you would like to see if your land qualifies for one of these projects, contact a Pheasants Forever member.
